Love,
Thank you to all of the boys and girls
who  sent in their cards to
Sparkles over the years!

Sparkles

Do you have an escape map? It is important to have an escape map and to
practice your home fire drill twice a year.

If you have an escape map, that's GREAT! Give yourself a pat on the back.

If not, please ask the folks that you live with to help you make one. It is super
important to have a plan!

To learn more about making a plan, visit my
FIRE SAFETY TIP page.

Thank you for visiting Sparkles the Fire Safety Dog's website.

Sparkles crossed over the Rainbow Bridge in October 2010.

Sparkles was a very special Dalmatian.

Rescued from a home with 62 other dogs, Sparkles came into my life when my
husband and I adopted her when she was 4 years old.

Sparkles reached millions of children and their families and helped save the lives of
7 children and 2 adults in fire-related situations.

Her work was mentioned on the Floor of Congress and in a US Senate Committee
meeting and she was on Sprout, the 24-hour preschool channel, sharing her fire
safety tips.

Three children's fire safety books have been written about Sparkles and her
Sparkles' Memorial Pathway is on the National Fallen Firefighter Foundation's
Walk of Honor at the National Emergency Training Center in Emmitsburg, Maryland.

Every 20 seconds, a fire
department responds to a
fire somewhere in the United
States. One person dies
every 153 minutes from fire,
and a fire injury occurs
every 30 minutes.*

In 2009, I founded the Keep Kids Fire Safe Foundation, a non-profit 501 (c)(3), dedicated in memory of Sparkles.

Today,
Molly the Fire Safety Dog is carrying on in Sparkles' pawprints.

Sparkles tail never stopped wagging and she loved helping me teach fire safety.

I miss her every day, but feel blessed she was in my life and in the lives of children.

Miss you girl,
